| What is a BootyGrabber? | A patent pending cam-retrieving tool that can remove spring loaded rock climbing protection cams from even the most narrow of cracks. If you have an invention and desire high-quality, low-cost patent protection, you might want to check out Inventor Services, LLC |
| Why is it called "BootyGrabber"? | Valuable items, such as Pirate treasure, may sometimes be called "Booty". Climbing gear that is left behind by one party may become "Booty" for a subsequent party. Spring loaded camming devices are expensive, and therefore cams that become stuck and get left behind constitute highly desirable "Booty". The BootyGrabber makes it a relatively simple job to extract cams that are inadvertently placed so deep in a narrow crack that they cannot be removed, or cleaned, using only a climber's fingers. The BootyGrabber tool also gives an extension to a cleaner's reach, which can be helpful to retrieve cams placed deeply in wider cracks. |
| How does it work? | A BootyGrabber is like an extension of your fingers and thumb, and is operated like emptying a hypodermic needle. The fingers of the BootyGrabber are independently extendable and rotatable. In a thin crack, the fingers are oriented parallel to the crack to bypass the cam's trigger as the fingers are inserted into the crack. Once the fingers are deeper than the cam's trigger, they are then rotated 90 degrees to capture the trigger to retract the cam lobes and clean the cam from the crack. Either one, or both, of the extendable fingers may be used, depending upon the type of cam, and its trigger arrangement. |
| How much does it cost? | Estimated cost is US$30.00 |
| How do I get one? | They are not yet in production. Send us an e-mail to let us know that you want your very own! |
